A New Significance

A New Significance is a Sculpture from Nigel Hoyle Ceramics, Scipelei Pottery collection. This is my newest range from Scipelei Pottery.  Produced in Stoneware in Arctic White.  These vessels feature words in reverse, designed to project the letter forms around the immediate environment of the work. The location and positioning of this piece is as important as the work itself.  Thus presenting a mysterious and distorted image created by the shadows projected by negative space.  The letters lend a monumental quality to the form which defy the actual scale of the vessel, giving a surreal tone to the chosen words, in this case Arabic Calligraphy.  Please take the time to browse my Homeware and Panels collections too.  You will find many items for everyday usage as well as pieces to bring meaning and joy to all.

Handcrafted

All of my Sculptures are individual works of art, signed by myself and one-offs.  This series of pieces are hand thrown and dried to leather hard.  Then commences the time-consuming process of carving and refining words and phrases into the surface of the vessel. Finally all pieces are fired to 1260C in my kiln over many hours.  And when the kiln door is opened…  that is when success or failure is clear for all to see!

Our preference is for you to visit the studio and pick up your purchase directly from us.  However, we understand that not everyone is able to do this.  Please see our delivery terms and conditions.   If the Sculpture is shown as in stock it means there is one available to be viewed and immediately purchased.  These Sculptures need specialist packing and shipping.  Therefore, if you would like to have it shipped please contact me to identify the cost and shipping method, prior to completing the purchase on-line.  If no stock is shown, then please contact me to talk about what you would like and when I could make it for you
