Laid Bare White is a Sculpture from Nigel Hoyle Ceramics, Scipelei Pottery collection. This is my newest range from Scipelei Pottery.  Produced in Stoneware in Ashraf Hanna.  This sculpture is hand built and was a month in the making. Nature has a way of hiding and revealing beauty and illusion in the processes of growth and decay. In this particular case, the beautifully eroded shell upon which this form is based was washed up with thousands of others on a Qatar beach.

There was once a life form concealed within its tiny nomadic home. The outer shell has been worn away by the ebb and flow of the salty sea, reminding us of that ownership is a temporary state of mind. Handcrafted

All of my Sculptures are individual works of art, signed by myself and one-offs.  This series of pieces are hand thrown and dried to leather hard.  This series of pieces are hand thrown and dried to leather hard before the time-consuming process of carving and refining layered patterns into the surface of the vessel.  Finally all pieces are fired to 1260C in my kiln over many hours.  And when the kiln door is opened…  that is when success or failure is clear for all to see!

Delivery

Our preference is for you to visit the studio and pick up your purchase directly from us.  However, we understand that not everyone is able to do this.  Please see our delivery terms and conditions.   If the Sculpture is shown as in stock it means there is one available to be viewed and immediately purchased.  These Sculptures need specialist packing and shipping.  Therefore, if you would like to have it shipped please contact me to identify the cost and shipping method, prior to completing the purchase on-line.  If no stock is shown, then please contact me to talk about what you would like and when I could make it for you.
