I hope this newsletter finds you well and happy,
Exciting times ahead! In less than two weeks, it will be setting up time for a first brush with the viewing public this year! Sheffield Ceramics Festival takes place on April 1st/2nd at Kelham Island Industrial Museum, set in one of the most exciting parts of Sheffield. I’m really looking forward to meeting and talking with the public about ceramics, art and life in general…

I am eternally grateful for the power and reach of this wonderful website and the amazing customers that continue to buy/collect and appreciate my work throughout the UK and beyond. I have sent work to New Zealand, USA, France, Italy and Ireland in the last couple of years and hope to grow my customer base in the years to come. The work continues to evolve and develop and I am proud of how far I have come in the last 6 years since returning from the middle east to set up my studio. Mistakes have been aplenty, but each one is another layer of experience that can be taken forward into the next piece of work.
Having been at this since 2016 in my current studio at home, tripping over boxes and moving things from one place to another has become a way of life that is not ideal. With that in mind I put much of my historical work in a huge Sale and I’m glad to say that a significant number of pieces have found new homes where they will be seen and cherished instead of living in boxes around my studio. The sale continues until the end of this month, though I may extend it into April with some more recent work.

I get a lot of enquiries through the website regarding pottery courses and classes. I ran a regular Monday morning class at Cliffe House in Shepley for 3 years until lockdown stopped us in our tracks. Getting started up again has been problematic due to kiln issues at Cliffe House but never say never, in the right set of circumstances, we could get going again in the not-too-distant future…
In the meantime, I have teamed up with those amazing people at Globe Arts Studios in Slaithwaite to run some workshops on two Tuesdays in February and March where we had a great time making some really exciting coil-built forms. I’ll be back there in the summer and autumn to lead some textiles in clay experimental workshops. Can’t wait!
I’m proud to announce that work has begun in earnest on ArtattheHouse 2023 which will take place on 23/24th September in the glorious 11 acres of grounds at Cliffe House, Shepley. This is our 5th event where over 50 artists and performers will appear in and around the Coach House and woods for what will be a truly magical event. Hope to see you there!
